Plauen

With around 66,000 inhabitants, Plauen is the largest city in the Vogtland. It is full of emotions and experiences. It became world famous through the Plauen lace and the humorous picture stories with "Father and Son". Impressive buildings such as the old town hall with its renaissance gable and the Johanniskirche adorn the cityscape. The city beach and the nature on the Weißen Elster, developed bike paths, quaint cafés and pubs, interesting museums, lush forests and, last but not least, the proximity to the Pöhl dam make Plauen an attractive place to relax for residents and guests alike. Vogtland

Pöhl dam

Sailors call it with a wink the “light wind area”, for the locals it is the “Vogtland Sea” and for vacationers a “natural paradise”. The Pöhl dam in the heart of the Vogtland has many facets. If you like rolling hills, rustic forests, spacious sunbathing lawns and natural bathing, then the Pöhl is the right place for you. Water sports enthusiasts and active vacationers will also find the best conditions around the dam.

There is a lot to discover and a lot of space to relax. Treat yourself to a steamboat ride, learn to surf or sail, and test your strength in the climbing forest! From the dam wall you go down many steps into the wild and romantic Triebal valley. The Elstertal and the impressive Elstertalbrücke are not far either. Göltzschtal

The Göltzschtalbrücke is the largest brick bridge in the world and the most famous attraction in the Vogtland holiday region. The impressive railway bridge, which was built in just five years in the 19th century, is a landmark of the Vogtland. It spans the picturesque Göltzsch valley between the towns of Mylau and Netzschkau. If you hike through the Göltzschtal, you will experience pure unspoilt nature: rocky steep banks and green floodplains, impact and sliding slopes, bank terraces, alder stands, forests and pastures line your path.
